Stamping Out Alzheimer’s Charity Fat Book Swap
Want to oooh and ahhh over the work of other mixed media/stamping artists in person and help a worthy cause at the same time? Here’s your chance! Please join me in a swap that can help stamp out Alzheimer’s disease. I will be auctioning off the extra pages as a fat book on eBay to benefit Alzheimer’s research:
Book Stats for Stamping Out Alzheimer’s Fall Charity Fat Book Swap
- The theme is Cherished Memories- something that reminds you of a special day or person.
- Send 16 original pages and receive 15 original pages back. The 16th page will go for a book to be auctioned for Alzheimer’s research.
- Sign up by October 25th. Due by November 15th.
- Pages are for a fat book, which means they should be 4″ wide by 4″ long.
- Don’t put anything too bulky or sticky on the left hand side starting about 1 1/2″ from the edge or binding will be downright impossible.
- Please put something on the back of your pages to help them blend in.
- Make sure pages are completely dry before you stack them together to send them in.
- Please make sure you sign your pages on either the front or the back.
- Include return postage for your swapped pages. If you are sending from the U.S., $3 should be sufficient for loose pages. If you’d like the pages bound, send $15 total instead, to help cover binding costs.
Sign up by emailing me at katelyn@b5media.com or in the comments section of this post. I will email you the shipping address and sign up confirmation.
I will be updating the swap info here, so check back to make sure your pages were received and to find out when they are being mailed out.
Participant Questions:
1. Can I use cardboard or do I have to use cardstock?
If it is the tag board type of cardboard (like cereal boxes or the backs of watercolor pads, etc.), it is fine. The corrugated kind tends to bend when you don’t want it to.
2. Can I use embellishments?
Please do use embellishments. They make the pages look great. Just be sure to keep them away from the left hand side so that they don’t interfere with hole punches during binding.
3. Is that 16 identical pages or can they be different?
You can make the pages all the same or they can be different. I tend to hate making the same page twice, but the work does get completed more quickly if they are all the same.
4. Can you clarify the theme?
The theme is cherished memories, which really covers anything that makes you feel sentimental. For one person, it could be a wedding day and for another it could be a day on Coney Island scarfing down hot dogs oozing with condiments and riding the merry go round until you are sick.

I won’t be signing up, Katelyn. Just know I can’t frit it in my schedule. But I will want to keep updated and post information about it on my Alzheimer’s Notes blog. This is a great idea.

Mary Emma,
Thanks for the support! The more people talking about it, the better. I certainly understand being too busy…I just traded in my part time job at the library for a substitute position to free up some of my time.

Katelyn, I’m actually doing old photos of my aunt and my mom. My aunt was on the road to alzheimers when she died. She and my mom were the youngest sisters in a family of 12. inkybru

I’m ready to send out the pages (sorry they are a few days late, actually had to care for my alzheimer’s mom while our caregiver was out sick) but I don’t have your address!! I’ll post Monday if you send it right out to me! Thanks - Jane
